Topography

Amelia County is centrally located in Virginia’s Piedmont Region just 35 miles southwest of Richmond, the state capital. The County contains 366 square miles, 73% of which is forested. Amelia County has a rolling topography with a north-easterly drainage system into the Appomattox River. The County is bordered by the Appomattox River on the north, Prince Edward County and Cumberland County on the west, Nottoway County on the south and Dinwiddie County on the east. Elevations range from 200 feet to 500 feet above sea level
