Medical

Two private medical centers, each with one full-time physician, serve the County of Amelia. The Amelia Health Care Center is located on Otterburn Road and the Mannboro Medical Center is located in the southeastern part of the County on Namozine Road in the Mannboro community. The County also has private practices of one pediatrician, one ophthalmologist, one optometrist, two dentists and two orthodontists. Most of these offices are located in and around the village of Amelia Courthouse. The Amelia Nursing Center, containing approximately 60 beds, was completed in 1992 and is located on Virginia Street.

The Amelia County Health Department is staffed by two nurses, two sanitarians and one physician. In addition, there are two doctors and two dentists with offices in the county. The Richmond area has numerous hospitals, including three within 35 miles of the county: Chippenham Medical Center, Johnston-Willis Hospital and McGuire Veterans Administration Medical Center.
