Agriculture

Agriculture is Amelia County’s leading industry. Over 90 percent of the County’s land exists as farmland and woodland. Approximately 14,000 acres of soybeans brings the County its largest agricultural income. The second largest agricultural income is from flue-cured tobacco. Corn and small grains are also important crops in the County. Dairy and beef cattle, sheep, lambs, market hogs, pigs and broilers are Amelia’s leading livestock. Amelia County’s farms, pastures, and woodlands, set among rolling hills, provide for scenic traveling on rural roads throughout all parts of the County.
